fountain of formiello
piazza de nicola enrico

In the documents of the period it is quoted with the name of "Fontana reale con abeveratora", which allows to believe that it also served for watering the horses. Set behind the Castel Capuano, it takes the name by the near channel of water. Subjected to numerous interventions during the centuries, it has the base in lavic stone on which leans the rectangular basin in limestone; the water comes out from the three masks of lions that are immediately found above the basin. The background is represented by the monument constituted by a masonry in stone on two levels, with false columns and a coat of arms on the high part.
