The tradition of the crib, extended also in the Royal Palace, and Charles III made it to build under his eyes, and he repaired even some piece of stone. All the objects which composed that crib, that is shepherds, animals and sets were preserved in the Royal palace of Caserta up to 1840. In that period on the occasion of the opening of the railway line Naples-Caserta King FerdinandoII ordered that the ancient crib of Royal House was reconstructed, to attract a lot of people. To enrich it he bought other shepherds and animals near the sculptors and antiquaries of the City. The crib was built under the direction of Don Giovanni Ferri. It didn’t have success, and the presepiantis had many criticisms. Over the three Magis of adoration, they placed other three of it in walk, and then other three above the so-called Taverna.
