crib of the church of santa marta
vico san sebastiano

The crib is placed on the background wall of a room, entering you can admire one of the few cribs where the traditional cave with the "souls of the Purgatory"is still preserved. According to a popular tradition there are the figurines of characters wrapped by the flames that continued the Kings Magi's trip when these reached the cave, or accompany us in the trip of the Life during the rest of the year. The Neapolitan crib is also a symbolic representation of a trip: trip of life and death and the "souls of the Purgatory"are dead-travellers who talk to the alive ones. In the crib of S. Marta their cave is illuminated of proper light that doesn't follow the general course of day/night.
